Position Details
Project Manager for Leadership Training (Position Number: 400554). Full-time position, 1.0 FTE, located in Greenville, North Carolina, within the School of Dental Medicine, Academic Affairs. Salary range: $36,381 - $73,150.
Organization and MissionThe School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Academic Success, and the Assistant Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs.
The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry, and Foundational Sciences. The mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide educational experiences for students and residents and by providing dental care to residents of North Carolina, with clinics located in Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, and Community Service-Learning Centers throughout the state.
To operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed.
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the implementation of the HRSA training grant at the ECU School of Dental Medicine. ECU has been funded to: a) improve rural community engagement to advance oral health; b) improve care delivery for people with special needs; and c) provide leadership training in population health management and informatics to dental residents.
Three overarching project strategies:
- Establish a rural oral health innovation hub to enhance residency programs in a network of rural sites.
- Establish a Center for People with Special Health Needs to enhance existing training and skills for management of patients with complex medical & dental needs.
- Increase use of population health management tools and practices among pediatric and general dentists to address gaps in needed dental services and track improvements.
The position will work closely with the Project Director and the training sites to assure timely coordination and implementation of the project strategies. This position will coordinate case management services and support development of strategies to address oral health literacy. Work with Project Leadership, Community Partners, and ECU School of Dental Medicine CSLC Directors and Faculty to:
- Develop clear and detailed plans to implement the project and monitor progress.
- Assure documentation of outcomes.
- Assist in report generation to demonstrate the impact of the program.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.
DENTAL MEDICINE SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS. These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS.
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/ Education- Experience working with dental school programs or planning of health services for children and adults.
- Experience working with a range of community stakeholders, including dentists, dental students, and dental residents.
- Experience in a community health-related field, public health, or community health education.
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
