EC Specialist
Position Summary:
The Specialist will oversee EC programming of the schools in the district. The candidate will provide direct support to building administrators, EC teachers and support staff. They must have knowledge of the curriculum, programming and instruction options for students with disabilities as well as an understanding of the characteristics and needs of students with disabilities. The position requires effective communication skills both orally and written, outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.

Term of Employment: 12 month
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Administration
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in special education
Experience as a teacher of students with disabilities
Current NC teaching license in special education
Responsibilities:
Monitor EC programs in all schools to ensure compliance and effectiveness of programming and instruction
Provide consultation and guidance to schools in matters related to EC programming and instruction.
Respond to parent concerns and complaints related to EC programming and instruction
Participate in regularly scheduled EC Leadership Team meetings, EC Team meetings, and other EC staff meetings as scheduled.
Assist in the provision of staff development to general education, special education elementary teachers and administrators.
Provide assistance to newly employed EC teachers.
Strong knowledge of policies governing students with disabilities.
Strong knowledge of the ECATS data management system.
Represent the EC Department in IEP team meetings as needed.
Work collaboratively and collegially with other EC Program and Instruction staff.
Assist in collecting and analyzing program data for planning and evaluation.
Perform other duties as assigned by the EC Director.
