Job Description
Building Hope Community Life Center is currently seeking academic support staff to serve as an integral member of the Building Hope Community Life Center team by providing academic assistance, classroom support, and student engagement services for elementary and middle school students participating in Building Hope's after-school and enrichment programs. This position supports the organization's mission of empowering youth through academic excellence, character development, faith-based values, and meaningful community engagement.
Work-study students will gain practical experience in education, nonprofit leadership, youth development, and community service while developing professional skills that prepare them for future careers.
Academic Support
Assist students with homework, reading, mathematics, science, and writing assignments.
Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring.
Reinforce classroom instruction through educational games and hands-on activities.
Encourage positive study habits and academic accountability.
Support literacy initiatives, including reading across the curriculum.
Classroom & Program Support
Prepare classrooms and learning materials before the program begins.
Assist with STEAM, literacy, SEL, and enrichment activities.
Monitor students during transitions, snack, recreation, and dismissal.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging learning environment.
Support lesson plan implementation under staff supervision.
Student Engagement
Build positive relationships with students.
Encourage respectful behavior and positive conflict resolution.
Serve as a positive role model reflecting Building Hope's mission and values.
Promote student participation and confidence.
Administrative Support
Assist with attendance and sign-in/out procedures.
Prepare copies, learning packets, and educational resources.
Organize supplies and classroom materials.
Assist with data entry and program documentation.
Support special events, family nights, and community programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
Be eligible for Federal Work-Study through their college or university.
Be enrolled in good academic standing.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate professionalism and reliability.
Enjoy working with children.
Be able to maintain confidentiality.
Pass all required background checks.
GPA Requirement
- Minimum of 2.0
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
