Assistant Department Chair – LSE is a part‑time faculty position to support the Chair and Program Directors in curriculum, student affairs, faculty support, and departmental operations within the College of Education.
Responsibilities- Lead discussions and supports in course scheduling and curriculum development, catalog and website updates; may act as director of a program depending on departmental needs.
- Oversight of undergraduate and/or graduate admissions and advising; student petitions and waivers; recruitment and retention efforts.
- Facilitate faculty mentorship; coordinate departmental committees; assist with part‑time faculty reviews; new faculty onboarding and credentialing; academic program management; assist with program assessments, accreditation, and reviews; provide undergraduate and graduate program direction; administer and operational duties; assist Chair with resource allocation and policy implementation; assist with special projects; support program directors as needed; act in the Chair's absence when required.
- Selected candidates will retain faculty status and receive an administrative stipend contingent on funding availability.
- PhD or EdD in one of the College of Education’s program areas from an accredited institution.
- Full‑time faculty who are tenured and hold the rank of associate professor or professor in the College of Education.
- Leadership experience with a strong record of scholarship, teaching, and service aligned with the college’s mission; demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and contribute to the college’s strategic goals.
- Experience working with university and college faculty to strengthen undergraduate and graduate level degree offerings within the department.
