Job Description

ECU Department of Physics is currently seeking several Undergraduate Learning Assistants (LA) for PHYS 2350 and PHYS 2360-Fall 2026. Student must have completed the course for which they will serve as an LA. The commitment is 5 hours per week (three classroom hours, one prep meeting with the instructor, and one hour of individual preparation).

Duties:
Attend classes within the assigned discipline to interact with students and lead discussions about class material. Attend a prep session with the faculty member teaching the class they are serving. New LAs must attend an orientation/training session to be held early in the semester.

Expected Products:
Learning Assistants are expected to bring all prepared materials with them to class so they may work with students. They do not need to generate any reports or other artifacts.

Evaluation Metrics:
Meet with designated instructor near the end of semester to discuss strengths/weaknesses of LA. Give LA constructive feedback.
