$17.50 – $21.67 per hour

The East Carolina Community School partners with Pitt County Schools and is located at South Greenville Elementary. The College of Education seeks substitute teachers to serve in elementary classrooms on an as‑needed basis. This temporary, exempt professional staff (EPS) position supports innovative instruction and student development within a culture that promotes effective instructional practices and the holistic success of all students.

• Facilitate the instructional plans of the classroom teacher and the school to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total community school program.
• Implement the planned innovative strategies and integrate a variety of support services for students.
• Implement behavioral and social‑emotional strategies to foster a positive climate for learning.
• Receive visitors within the assigned classroom for the purpose of instruction, assistance, research, and observation.

• Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (K‑6).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Evidence of skill working with at‑risk student populations.
• Qualifying degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

• Current or past North‑Carolina teaching license in elementary education (K‑6).
• Teaching experience with diverse student groups.
• Self‑directed, organized, and detail oriented.
• Innovative, outcome‑oriented, and technologically proficient across multiple platforms.
• Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative, and motivated to learn and adopt innovative practices.
