GUC is searching for a dynamic engineering professional to serve as a leader in our Electric Department. This position is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining GUC’s electric distribution system. The incumbent will directly supervise a team of systems supervisors and reports to the Assistant Director of Electric.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. OR 8 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Primary Responsibilities
- Operation and maintenance of the existing distribution and transmission line facilities and the construction of new facilities.
- Work closely with the department head and other staff engineers to ensure that department operations are coordinated.
- Assist the department head in the development of the department’s annual budget and long-range work plans (five-year).
- Provide budget estimates for maintenance related to overhead and underground services and facilities, overhead distribution lines, transmission lines, and street and area lighting.
- Manage and coordinate multiple major projects utilizing internal and external resources.
- Prepare specification and bid packages for major construction equipment.
- Perform evaluations and make recommendations for bid awards.
- Responsible for review, evaluation, and approval of all new materials, hardware, and equipment utilized in the construction of transmission and distribution facilities.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation, review, and execution of switching orders as required.
- Assist the Distribution Planning Engineer with the development of engineering and construction timetables and schedules for project implementation.
- Serve as a liaison with consulting engineers on major projects.
- Review billable work orders and resolve questions relative to customer charges.
- Assist in the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
- Rotate standby responsibilities with other staff engineers.
- Lead and participate in the repairs of GUC electrical system following storms or other disruptions of electrical service.
- Establish training guidelines and standards for operations/maintenance personnel.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the department head.
Job Requirements
- Over five years of experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Driver’s License
