Monday‑Friday 8 AM–5 PM, flexible arrangements possible.

Salary Range
: $77,000 minimum.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert consultative support, workshop‑based training, and course‑integrated instruction in data science and visualization for students, faculty, and researchers.
  • Lead support for tabular data, spreadsheet software, and data visualizations, and contribute to other data‑science topics aligned with patron needs.
  • Design, develop, and deliver workshops (open series and faculty collaborations) and engage with faculty, campus groups, and external partners to support the university’s data and visualization needs.
  • Participate in outreach and sponsor events, and collaborate on data‑related initiatives and projects across the department and library.
  • Mentor or supervise graduate student consultants in their skill areas.
  • Participate in library planning, committees, task forces, and teams, ensuring alignment with the Libraries’ Strategic Plan.
  • Report to the Department Head, Data Science Services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • ALA‑accredited Master of Library Science (MLS), Master of Information Science (MIS), or an equivalent advanced degree.
  • Proficiency in working with tabular data, including data generation, preparation and analysis, and experience with at least one spreadsheet or tabular‑data tool (e.g., SPSS, SAS, JMP, Google Sheets, STATA).
  • Proficiency in designing and building effective data visualizations for research presentations and publications.
  • Ability to teach workshops, instruction, or other training sessions on data preparation and visualization, including sessions using Google Sheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical skills and tools with evidence of ongoing, self‑directed learning.
  • Interest in providing services that support students, faculty, and staff in developing their data skills.
  • Ability to serve and collaborate with a large user community reflecting a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Ability to foster an environment of belonging and well‑being.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of representing the Libraries to university and external audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and contribution to the library profession.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license (required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and application of advanced data visualization, survey design, qualitative analysis, statistics, or related techniques.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages for data transformation, analysis, and visualization (e.g., R, Python).
  • Experience delivering instruction, workshops, or training for data topics.
