Physician Assistant / Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Day & Night Shifts | Academic CVICU | January–July 2026
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in a state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Greenville, North Carolina.
This assignment supports a nationally recognized academic cardiovascular program and offers high-acuity clinical exposure, strong physician collaboration, and a predictable long-term schedule. Providers must have prior CVICU experience and be confident managing complex cardiac and post-operative ICU patients.

- Contract Type: Locum Tenens
- Coverage Window: January 2026 – July 2026
- Schedule Structure:
- 12-hour shifts
- Days: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Coverage Requirement:
- 84 hours every 2 weeks
- Rotating days, nights, and weekends
- Unit: 16-Bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
- Program Type: Academic, tertiary referral center
- Team Model:
- 5 Academic Intensivists
- 6 Advanced Practice Providers
- Facility Profile:
- Nationally ranked cardiovascular program
- Dedicated cardiovascular tower with advanced surgical, diagnostic, and ICU capabilities
- High-volume cardiac, cardiothoracic, and vascular patient population
- Perform comprehensive CVICU patient assessments and management
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing
- Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, surgeons, nursing, and ancillary services
- Provide patient and family education and follow-up care
- Arterial line placement
- Central venous & dialysis catheter placement
- Chest tube insertion & removal
- Thoracentesis
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal
- Transvenous pacer & Swan-Ganz placement
- Bronchoscopy
- Temporary pacing wire removal
- Feeding tube placement
- Licensure: Active & unrestricted NC license (or ability to obtain)
- Certification:
- PA-C (NCCPA) or
- Acute Care NP (ACNP)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience
- Cardiovascular ICU experience required
- Certifications:
- BLS & ACLS (AHA required)
- DEA: Active and unrestricted
- Long-term continuity (6+ months)
- High-acuity CVICU experience in an academic setting
- Structured scheduling with predictable rotations
- Established APP team and strong intensivist support
