- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts per week, self-scheduling)
- Unit: Cancer Center – Surgical Oncology (PCU/Stepdown)
- Bed Count: 32-bed flex unit (intermediate and general care)
- Staffing Ratio: 1:4 RN-to-patient
- Weekend/Holiday Expectations: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule; 3 out of 4 holidays
- Floating: May be required to float to areas of equal or lower acuity (telemetry or med-surg)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1860 - $1960
- Experience: Minimum 1 year recent RN experience (PCU/Stepdown, telemetry, or oncology preferred)
- License: Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact/NLC accepted)
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) required
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret cardiac/telemetry strips; EPIC experience and prior travel nurse experience preferred
- Other: Must meet an 80-mile local radius rule; strong communication and critical thinking skills required
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and benign surgical patients in a PCU/stepdown setting as a Travel Oncology RN
- Perform comprehensive assessments, interventions, and ongoing evaluation for patients with changing acuity, including postoperative monitoring and escalation per protocol
- Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms/telemetry strips; communicate significant changes to the interdisciplinary care team
- Support postoperative recovery, medication administration, IV therapy, pain and symptom management, and oncology-specific care while maintaining high patient-safety standards
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team caring for ENT, colorectal, OB/GYN, urology, GI/GU, thoracic, and plastics patient populations
- Provide patient and family education on procedures, recovery expectations, oncology care plans, and discharge planning
- Document care accurately in EPIC (when applicable) and perform effective handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Float to other units of equal or lower acuity (telemetry or general med-surg) as needed
