** Description of Work
** The Correctional Lieutenant III position is located at Eastern Correctional Institution in Maury, which houses approximately 477. Reporting to the Correctional Captain III , this position predominantly and independently provides support to the Correctional Captain. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

**** Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
** Reporting to the Correctional Captain III, this position predominantly and independently provides support to the Correctional Captain.
* Providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
* Completing, reviewing and maintaining employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.
* Conducting investigations as needed.
* Accounting for persons & funds and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operational.
* Providing daily inspection of offenders living areas, medical, kitchen areas and the facility as a whole to identify possible safety hazards and to ensure the operation is running smoothly.
* Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff. Conducting searches of staff, visitors and offenders for contraband and responding to emergency situations as needed.
* Serving as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the facility when his/her rotation is working in the absence of the Correctional Captain.

**** Salary Range: $45,431.00 - $79,504.00

* Knowledge of Prisons’ Policy and Procedures
* Supervisory skills in a prison facility
* Report writing skills
** Necessary Special Qualifications**:
MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

* Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
* Pass a criminal background check
* Produce a negative drug screening result
* Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
