Position Summary
The Police Officer performs a complete range of law enforcement services for the ECU Police Department. Duties include patrols, criminal apprehension, preliminary and follow-up investigations, traffic enforcement, and other tasks that aid in securing the hospital campus. This position is primarily assigned to report and work at ECU Health Medical Center but may be assigned to other regions as needed.
Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls for service.
- Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations; gather and preserve evidence as required.
- Enforce traffic laws and hospital campus regulations to ensure safety and order.
- Provide security for patients, visitors, staff, and property at ECU Health facilities.
- Coordinate with hospital, security, and emergency response teams as needed.
- High School plus 1–2 years of formal education/experience or higher.
- Basic Law Enforcement Training is required.
- Law Enforcement certification by the State of North Carolina.
- Must maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Minimum age of 20 years.
- Selected applicants must pass a complete medical examination, psychological testing, and a police applicant background investigation.
- 40 hours per week
- Monday – Friday (5:45 pm – 5:45 am)
- Required to work rotational weekends
