Position Type: Part‑time (up to 20 hours per week).
Hours: Evenings 5:00–10:00 pm, weekends 8:00–5:00 pm.
Compensation: Hourly rate plus mileage reimbursement.
Location: Pitt County Schools Moyer Annex with field work at farms, camps, nurseries, and poultry farms throughout Pitt County.
Candidate Requirement: Fluency in both English and Spanish.
Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Migrant Coordinator and Director of Federal Programs, the Migrant Education Part‑time Recruiter identifies and recruits eligible migratory children (ages 3–21) for the Migrant Education Program at camps and agricultural farms within the Pitt County region.
Key Responsibilities- Travel to farms, camps, packing facilities, and rural communities to locate eligible out-of-school youth.
- Identify and recruit eligible migratory students in compliance with district, federal, and state policy.
- Conduct in-person interviews with out-of‑school youth to complete the Certificate of Eligibility.
- Build and maintain partnerships with farm owners, businesses, and community agencies.
- Advocate for Spanish‑speaking students whose parents work in agriculture to access educational and support services.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and complete reports in a timely manner.
- Attend training, meetings, and professional development events.
- Organize schedule independently to accommodate night and weekend hours based on farm and family availability.
- Represent Pitt County Schools with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity at all times.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant training is a bonus.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and reliable transportation with current auto insurance.
- Knowledge of local agricultural regions and community dynamics.
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, and basic computer skills.
- Experience in recruitment or working with farm‑worker or highly mobile populations is a plus.
- Availability for non‑traditional hours (evenings and weekends).
- Pass a background check, drug screening, and program‑specific training.
- Deep commitment to educational access.
- Comfortable navigating fields, farms, and families with humility and purpose during evenings and weekends.
- Effective Spanish communication with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Belief in the potential of every student and commitment to reaching those often unseen.
