Teacher Aide
Darke County Educational Service Center - Greenville, Ohio
The Darke County ESC is seeking to fill two teacher's aide positions in a classroom for students with multiple disabilities at Tri-Village Elementary. Teacher's Aides may assist the Intervention Specialist in completing habilitation such as feeding, toileting, lifting, and/or moving; physical intervention on a consistent basis and constant monitoring to ensure safety; and/or student assistance when curriculum needs to be modified to the functional level.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma and ability to meet certification requirements for an Educational Aide certificate.
- Shall possess a valid driver's license.
- Shall pass the BCI/FBI background checks.

Assigned instructor(s)
Job Goals:
To assist the instructor in the education of the students in a specific classroom.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Participate in team approach to student programming.
- Assists in planning and helps carry out education programs.
- Assists in individual and small group activities.
- Assists with behavior problems and maintaining discipline in the classroom.
- Assists in the supervision of outside or recreational activities of students.
- Assists in maintaining student attendance records.
- Assists in maintaining evaluation and testing records.
- Assists with toilet procedures and diapering of students.
- Assists students during lunch time.
- Assists with student bus boarding and unboarding.
- Constructs or creates educational aids for class or individual instruction.
- Participates in special training and staff development programs, staff meetings, and other specialized programs.
- May be assigned to one or more classrooms.
- May assist other departments when regular classrooms are closed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Remains free of an alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the ESC.
- Conducts other duties related to the Instructional/Teacher Aide duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services and/or designee.
Additional
Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.
Terms of Employment:
- Employed for 185 days at 7.25 hours per day.
- Salary to be established as per salary schedule.
- There will be no vacation pay incurred in this position.
- Holiday pay shall be given for the following days:
Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Memorial Day. - Retirement and Sick Leave days accumulated as determined by board policy.
- Board paid employee insurance benefits as per board policy and regulations.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the instructor(s) to which assigned in cooperation with the Director of Pupil Services and/or designee in cooperation with the person being evaluated.
