This non-union nurse position is for the surgical services department as a preadmission testing nurse. This position is a Monday through Friday day shift, no weekend, and holiday or on‑call expectation. Hours may vary to meet the needs of the department. This position reports to the Nurse Manager and/or the Director of Surgical Services.

Qualifications:

  • Currently licensed to practice in the State of Ohio
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 1 year of PAT experience required
  • At least 1 year of prior clinical experience in perioperative services required
  • Professional appearance at all time
  • Current BLS certification required

Skill, Ability, and Responsibilities:

  • Have interpersonal and analytical skills necessary to function under the current standards of nursing practices
  • Communication skills with the ability to deliver complex, detailed, verbal information to patients, physicians, and other outside agencies
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple tasks within the identified time period defined
  • Attend meetings as assigned
  • Physically able to perform the functions of the position
  • Pre-operative testing coordination of all surgical and infusion patients
  • Providing pre surgical patients a point of contact for their surgical journey
  • Contacting Surgeon or ordering provider as needed for verification of concerns, orders, or other situations to assure patient ready for the day of surgery
  • Touch points with patients before surgery to review pre-op instructions
  • Follow up on all orders for patients to make sure all appointments are scheduled in a timely manner and that all appropriate documentation is in the chart
  • Collaborates with the Pre Post unit and operating Charge Nurse help ensure everything is addressed prior to patient’s surgery
  • Compliance with HIPAA to access to and use of Protected Health Information according to institutional and regulatory rules and regulations.
