Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing, recording, and reconciling financial data to support the organization's overall accounting operations. This position contributes to maintaining accurate financial records, supports internal departments with financial reporting, and assists with monthly close processes and audits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to financial accuracy and compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Record and analyze financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of accounts, including payroll and fringe allocations.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.
- Collect, verify, and maintain supporting financial documentation.
- Provide timely and accurate general ledger reports to internal departments.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in financial records and ensure data integrity.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems for financial documents.
- Support preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
- Respond to inquiries from internal departments and provide excellent customer service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in accounting or finance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to quickly learn accounting and payroll software systems.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic understanding of financial reporting, account reconciliation, and accrual accounting.
Work hours are based on the needs of the department and may include occasional extended or flexible hours to meet reporting deadlines.
