Full Charge Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for an experienced accounting candidate to join a well-established CPA firm in the upstate. This contract-to-permanent position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to support a diverse client portfolio with tax, bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, excellent client communication skills, and a dependable, hands-on approach to meeting recurring deadlines.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of approximately 15 to 25 client accounts, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.

- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including tracking transactions and addressing outstanding items promptly.

- Complete account and bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies with careful attention to detail.

- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting by organizing financial data and helping maintain reporting schedules for assigned clients.

- Process payroll for multiple clients with varying pay cycles, including weekly and biweekly schedules, while verifying hourly and salary calculations.

- Review payroll taxes, deductions, and multi-state employee considerations to help ensure compliant and timely payroll processing.

- Communicate directly with clients to gather missing information, answer questions, and maintain strong working relationships.

- Prepare tax returns during tax seasons to ensure deadlines are met. Tax returns can be both individual and business returns (partnerships, S corps, C corps)

- Systems:
Quick Books Desktop & Online, Microsoft Excel - prior experience in tax software (Drake, Ultra Tax, Lacerte, etc.)

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience in full charge bookkeeping, preferably in a multi-client or public accounting environment.

- Hands-on payroll experience, including processing payroll for small to mid-sized employee groups and managing tax with holdings and deductions.

- Proficiency with Quick Books Desktop, Quick Books Online, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, both verbally and in writing.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow through on open items independently.

- A proactive, team-oriented attitude with the flexibility to step in as needed to help meet client commitments

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 40 hours per week outside of busy season (flex hours)

Over-time eligible during tax seasons

Business Casual office
