Job Responsibilities
Provides administrative assistance to the Oconee Maintenance Unit, to include preparing correspondence, procurement functions, human resources functions, report formatting, and various other data entry related duties. Performs customer service to include answering general telephone calls and calls related to road closures. Assists office guest/customers and file inquiries. Operates computerized system to compile, type, edit, print, and store correspondence, reports, records and other documents.
This includes researching, compiling, writing, typing, correspondence for new hires, claims by the public, and other records keeping requirements. Reviews and refers applications to supervisors for potential interview. Processes various purchase orders, reviews and tracks operating budgets, manages mileage reports, and orders office supplies, safety gear, and equipment used by the Maintenance Unit. Coordinates and processes personnel actions for the unit and serves as a central contact for personnel matters including disciplinary actions.
Interprets personnel policies and procedures. Attends meetings on matters concerning business activities and serves as the liaison for matters such as insurance, employee benefits, and procurement. Oversees time keeping responsibilities to ensure time is entered properly for the unit in accordance with policy. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
