Position: Business Development & Events Lead (Independent Contractor)

Business Development & Events Lead (Independent Contractor) European American Chamber of Commerce (EACC) – Carolinas Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Business Development & Events Lead (Independent Contractor) will drive membership growth, deepen stakeholder engagement, and deliver high-impact programming across North and South Carolina, ensuring strong alignment with the chapter’s strategic direction.

The European American Chamber of Commerce (EACC) Carolinas is seeking a dynamic and strategic professional who thrives in a fast-paced, international environment and is passionate about strengthening business relationships. The successful candidate will take ownership of regional growth initiatives, cultivate strategic partnerships, and ensure the successful planning and execution of signature events and educational programs.

This engagement is structured as an independent contractor role, not an employee position.

The role will begin on a part-time basis, with the potential to expand to a full-time contractor engagement after an initial period, based on performance and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities Membership Growth & Engagement
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership acquisition and retention, with a particular focus on European manufacturers and transatlantic businesses in NC and SC.
  • Proactively identify and cultivate new member prospects through targeted outreach and relationship-building.
  • Maintain regular contact with current and prospective members to understand their needs and enhance engagement.
  • Expand and maintain a robust regional database of relevant corporate and institutional contacts.
  • Facilitate meaningful member networking by organizing introductions and creating structured networking opportunities.
Events & Programming
  • Together with ED, design, plan, and execute a calendar of high-quality networking events, workshops, and educational programs focused on the transatlantic economy, regulatory developments, trade policy, and industry trends.
  • Lead the preparation and hosting of high-level stakeholders from Europe and the United States, including signature initiatives such as the “Taste of…” series.
  • Oversee event logistics, budgeting, sponsor engagement, and program development to ensure professional delivery and strong attendance.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote events and initiatives via newsletters, Linked In, website, and other communication channels.
Operations & Community Relations
  • Work in close coordination with the marketing lead to contribute to the development and execution of newsletters, Linked In communications, website content, and broader marketing campaigns, supporting visibility, engagement, and membership acquisition efforts.
  • Develop and manage budgets to support chapter activities and ensure financial sustainability of programs.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships within the regional business and public sector community.
  • Serve as a key external representative of EACC Carolinas in regional business and community forums, ensuring consistent executive-level presence and strengthening strategic relationships.
  • Provide regular reports to the Executive Director on performance metrics, growth initiatives, and program outcomes.
  • Support and execute additional initiatives aligned with the chapter’s strategic objectives.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Must live in the Upstate region of South Carolina.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, partnership cultivation, or market expansion.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills, with experience engaging senior-level executives and stakeholders.
  • A naturally social personality with a genuine passion for people and relationship‑building.
  • Academically well‑grounded, intellectually curious, and professionally polished in demeanor and presentation.
  • A soft‑spoken, respectful, and composed approach, with the ability to navigate diverse cultural and professional environments with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution capability.
  • High energy, resilience, and a proactive, results‑driven approach.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of at least one European language in addition to English.
  • Previous entrepreneurial or business ownership experience.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic partnerships.
  • Understanding of the transatlantic economy and interest in European‑American trade relations.
  • Knowledge of Hub Spot, Canva, Word Press, Asana and Canva
  • Affinity with numbers
