About the Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced MEP Superintendent to join our growing Mission Critical Construction team in South Carolina. This role is ideal for a construction professional with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems who thrives in fast-paced, technically complex environments.
As the MEP Superintendent for a leading General Contractor, you'll provide on-site leadership throughout construction, startup, commissioning, and turnover, ensuring building systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll work closely with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to successfully execute mission-critical facilities from installation through operational readiness.
What You'll Do- Lead field execution of all MEP construction activities for mission-critical projects
- Oversee startup, testing, commissioning, and systems turnover to ensure operational readiness
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, and specialty trade contractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Support procurement activities by reviewing scopes of work, assisting with bid packages, and coordinating equipment acquisition
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and installation progress while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Manage RFIs, submittals, material tracking, equipment deliveries, and construction documentation
- Develop and maintain critical path schedules for MEP activities, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones
- Review and administer subcontractor change requests, owner-directed changes, and associated cost impacts
- Partner with commissioning providers to coordinate testing, documentation, training, and final handover to operations
- Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts for all MEP installations and pre-functional testing
- Utilize BIM and VDC tools to improve coordination, clash detection, and field execution
- Develop detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for work performed within live or mission-critical environments
- Facilitate coordination meetings with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain project momentum
- Champion a proactive safety culture by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with site safety programs
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience
- 5–7+ years of experience with a general contractor managing commercial construction projects
- Minimum of 3 years supporting mission-critical facilities, data centers, healthcare projects, or complex MEP commissioning programs
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and building systems from installation through commissioning
- Proven experience coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, and driving successful project delivery
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, estimating, contracts, budgeting, and project controls
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
