DescriptionWurster Engineering and Construction, Inc., specializes in design/build, geotechnical construction including compacted aggregate piers, AMPier, vibro compaction, rigid inclusions, soil nail walls, micropiles, tieback anchors, slope stabilization, rock and ground anchors, shotcrete, grouting and augercast piles. Wurster has immediate opportunities for Construction Superintendents to be responsible for all aspects of on-site job management throughout the company's market, which includes jobs throughout the Southeast.
Offices are currently maintained in Greenville and Charleston, SC., Asheville, NC, and Tampa, FL.
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for the effective management of all aspects on jobsites. This individual will supervise and direct all internal field employees, as well as coordinate with any project related subcontractors, to ensure that all aspects of the project are managed and completed in a safe, timely, efficient, effective and profitable manner. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented, with team leadership experience in the Heavy/Geotechnical Construction sector.
Position RequirementsJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for on-site project supervision including management of field labor, equipment, materials, safety and production
- Responsible for general safety and maintaining a safe work environment to meet or exceed OSHA safety standards, leading by example
- Responsible for effective leadership and management to achieve maximum onsite efficiency
- Confer with all levels of staff in order to resolve jobsite issues
- Manage and coordinate field operations to meet project budget and production requirements
- Maintain a working knowledge of all plans and specifications required for construction
- Proactively identify design deficiencies, schedule concerns, and other project specific issues and report to engineering personnel and project managers
- Provide job status updates to engineers and project managers, to include quantities and production rates
- Prepare necessary reports (e.g. daily time sheets, daily field reports, and other required documentation)
- Assist in the development of field labor, to include foremen mentorship and other on-the-job training
- Must have 7+ years of Heavy Construction experience
- Minimum 5 years of Superintendent/leadership experiencei
- Experience in Geotechnical Construction, preferred
- Must have experience with Federal safety requirements & be familiar with DOT standards
- OSHA 30 Training, preferred
- Ability to work in high production environment
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines, in a quick and effective manner
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of equipment types necessary for production
- Extensive travel required
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time
Travel Requirements Extensive travel required. Must be willing to travel weekly, typically Monday morning departure with a Friday afternoon/evening return.
