General Responsibilities

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the SSS - Stud Supp Svcs department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

The Dean of Student Engagement provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive portfolio of student success and engagement programs designed to support enrollment growth, improve retention, and increase credential completion. This role ensures students can easily access academic, personal, and career support when they need it, whether through a centralized physical hub or through distributed digital and campus-based access points.

The Dean oversees the STAR Center, Library Resources, ASPIRE, Academic Coaching and Tutoring, Campus Life, and Career Services. Working closely with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, and external partners, the Dean advances an integrated engagement model that strengthens onboarding, sustains student persistence, and supports timely completion.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Integration & Leadership: Align the efforts of the STAR Center, Library, and Academic Coaching to create a seamless support ecosystem that addresses both the academic and basic needs of students.
  • Hub and Spoke System Management: Oversee the physical STAR Center hub (housing the food and clothing pantry) and lead the digital and logistical expansion of "spoke" distribution points. This includes streamlining the delivery of food, books, and technology to satellite campuses and online learners.
  • Basic Needs & Financial Stability: Provide executive oversight for the STAR Center’s essential services, including housing insecurity referrals, emergency financial assistance distribution, and the Caring Corner food pantry.
  • Student Success & Retention: Direct the ASPIRE Scholars Initiative, focusing on intensive case management and personalized support for high-risk, high-need populations to improve retention and graduation rates.
  • External Partnerships: Proactively cultivate and manage partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and government agencies to increase the volume of donated goods, financial aid, and career opportunities for students.
  • Academic Support & Life: Foster a vibrant campus culture through the integration of Campus Life activities with Career Services and Tutoring, ensuring that engagement is tied directly to career readiness and academic achievement.

Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree and experience in student services programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership in student services, with a demonstrated history of managing diverse departments and community partnerships.
