Job Responsibilities
The Student Development Counselor supports current and prospective students by providing academic and personal counseling, advising, career exploration, and disability services. As part of the Student Success Center, the counselor serves as a primary contact for general advising needs across diverse student groups, including dual‑enrolled, adult, and traditional students. The role ensures equitable access for students with disabilities and collaborates closely with campus departments—such as admissions, registrar, financial aid, advising, and testing services—to deliver a positive, seamless student experience from enrollment through completion.
This position is located at our Palmer Campus.
- Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
- Preferred:
Two (2) years of experience in student services programs.
A master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work with at least two (2) years of professional experience in student services programs is highly preferred. Must have knowledge of individual and group counseling techniques, disabilities‑related services theory, crisis management, career development, academic advisement, ADA and Section 504 requirements, and be able to analyze and solve problems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities include counseling prospective and enrolled students, conducting workshops, administering and interpreting career and personality assessments, providing intake and follow‑up services to students with disabilities, and assisting faculty with Early Alert students.
