Legacy Early College Overview

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on To and Through College at every grade level. Legacys model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.

Position Overview

Legacy Early College (Legacy) seeks a teacher who can ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must create and maintain a climate that promotes knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed through college and beyond. This position reports to the School Principal.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Prepare math lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for students with individual differences.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to the students.
  • Assess student learning through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent student feedback, information to parents, and written progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Participate in all professional development opportunities.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelors degree
  • Preferred:
    Teaching certificate*
  • * South Carolina Teacher Certification may be REQUIRED for specific positions, such as:
    Special Education, ML/ ESOL, High Course with EOC exams, etc.
Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, which has a 10-month school year schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Physical Demands

Long-standing and sitting periods and the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs. are required. Position might require travel. Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

The position will have periods of extended work week hours, which are required to support the region's ongoing development and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
