Professor, Tenure Track – Chemical Engineering

Position OverviewWe are expanding our tenured and tenure‑track ranks and are seeking dynamic faculty members for the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Assistant Professor candidates must possess a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field by the time of appointment and must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research, with an expected internationally recognized research program.
Associate Professor and Full Professor candidates must have several years of relevant academic experience, a sustained record of excellence in teaching and research, competitive funding, interdisciplinary collaborations, and plans to further grow their research activities and lead new initiatives within the college.
We seek candidates to support university‑wide and statewide initiatives related to batteries for electric vehicles and grid‑scale applications, including the establishment of the Carolina Institute for Battery Innovation (CIBI). Key research areas of interest include:
- New chemistries and active materials
- Solid‑state electrolytes
- Continuum‑scale and systems modeling
- Battery safety and reliability
- Innovative recycling approaches
