Job Description
A Busbar Field Supervisor is responsible for performing supervisory duties in the service region, leading a team that handles start‑up, commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of Vertiv electrical Busbar systems iMPB and HPB for 600V applications. The supervisor establishes and maintains excellent rapport with customers, co‑workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate, and provides technical expertise, safety leadership, and accountability for all installed projects, technical support, and T&M work.
Responsibilities- Supervise, train, and assist field service technicians in all field service work.
- Supervise large projects requiring specialized skills such as acceptance tests, turnkey projects, and electrical consultation.
- Develop tests and inspections in new areas of field services.
- Perform job estimating, proposal preparation, fieldwork, scheduling, reports, and billing.
- Write complete, detailed reports promptly at the end of projects, using a computer, and accurately process job billing.
- Actively engage in client interface and business development activities.
- Register Area associates for training, oversee and schedule all OJT requirements, and guide others on complex situations.
- Maintain certifications per the Job Progression table and assist in developing Safety and Quality procedures.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting (time cards, expense reports, mileage reports, ticket closure, forms, etc.).
- Maintain individual inventory and company property (vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, etc.) per company policy.
- Ensure proper and adequate communication to internal and external customers, including ETA updates and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain customer satisfaction rates and attend customer meetings as required.
- Lead by example, uphold professional standards, and act as a role model for field associates.
- Handle stressful situations, provide a calming effect to customers, and exhibit high diplomacy.
- Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities, complete work efficiently, and make technical and commercial decisions under pressure.
- Maintain productive utilization rate, enforce company dress code and safety regulations, and meet or exceed on‑site response time requirements.
- Understand and comply with company startup/escalation processes, maintain proper internal communications, and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Supervise 8–10 Service Center Field Technicians.
- Working knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution, Generators, Switchgear, Automatic Transfer Switches, etc.
- Solid foundation in electrical power theory and application, with thorough understanding of applicable safety procedures.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and industry standards (OSHA, NFPA).
- Experience providing on‑site customer consultation, presenting as an expert in the field.
- Expert analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to manage customer expectations during stressful situations.
- High degree of supervisory, organizational, and management skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reading and interpreting electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
- Summarizing and reporting all work‑related tasks performed.
- Providing technical assistance via telephone to customers regularly.
- Intuitive evaluation, recognition, and recommendation of customer solutions based on site assessment.
- Directing technical activities of other technicians at customer sites.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds regularly.
- Vision capabilities: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.
- Strong computer skills (Word editing, formatting, templates, Internet for research, operation of computer‑controlled test equipment).
- Foster a Customer‑First Mindset.
- Graduate of an applicable Electrical Technical School or military equivalent with nine years minimum same or similar work experience.
- High school education or equivalent with ten years minimum same or similar work experience.
