Job Description
We are seeking an entry level Distribution Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. This role involves supporting various programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.
Responsibilities- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements and design quality expectations.
- Travel to sites for inspections and perform engineering design work in the office.
- Conduct engineering calculations including structural analysis, guying calculations, and voltage drop assessments.
- Create permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.
- Perform root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies using engineering principles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, ArcGIS, and Arc Map.
- Strong interest in developing work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects.
- Familiarity with GIS and WMS systems such as GE Small world and Bentley Expert Designer.
Skills & Qualifications
- Internship or academic projects related to power utilities or energy are highly preferred.
- EIT certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD and SOCKET is preferred.
- Experience using CAD tools, Micro Station, and/or GIS.
- Knowledge of NESC and design standards.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 – $30.00/hr.
