Infrastructure Inspector

Position Title: Infrastructure Inspector

Location: South Carolina

Employment Type: Full-Time

Duration: 3-6 months

The Infrastructure Inspector is responsible for performing field inspections on highway, bridge, and general civil infrastructure construction projects. This role ensures contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and DOT standards. The ideal candidate has extensive field experience and is capable of mentoring junior inspectors in best practices and technical standards.

• Conduct daily field inspections of highway, bridge, roadway, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Verify contractor work meets project drawings, specifications, and applicable DOT standards.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, including materials used, progress, deficiencies, and safety observations.
• Monitor erosion control, traffic maintenance, grading, paving, concrete placement, and structural work.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to communicate findings.
• Mentor and support junior inspectors, providing guidance on inspection techniques and documentation.
• Track construction quantities and support pay application verification.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality regulations.

• 5+ years of experience in civil, transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection.
• Strong knowledge of DOT construction standards and specifications.
• Proficiency in field documentation, daily reports, and inspection technology/tools.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Certifications such as CTQP, NICET (Transportation/Highway), ACI, or equivalent.
• Experience on state DOT projects (FDOT, TxDOT, VDOT, etc. depending on region).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in the field.
• Leadership qualities and ability to train junior team members.
