Role SummaryResearches, develops, plans and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems that may involve nanotechnology. Oversees and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Activities may involve but are not limited to electric generators, internal combustion engines and steam, gas turbines, power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment and robots used in manufacturing etc.
BasicJob Requirements
Mechanical Engineer Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET Accredited University with at least 5 years’ experience in construction or facility maintenance.
Must be proficient in reviewing and analyzing HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems, reviewing mechanical drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Experience with central utility plants and energy efficiency technologies is highly desirable. AFIT WENG 400, WENG 519, WMGT 131, WMGT 301, WMGT 417, WMGT 322, WMGT 422, and WTSS 200 required.
Job Requirements
Must be a US Citizen
Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Experience with government contracting
Familiar with construction and day-to-day operational activities on the project site
Coordinate sub-contractors, labor crews and technical teams
Maintain strict adherence to US government regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS), safety standards, and host-nation laws
Ensures all work aligns with security protocols, export controls, and classification requirements if applicable
Serves as the secondary on-site liaison between the contractor and the U.S. government (Contracting Office, COR, PM)
