The Low Voltage Network Design Engineer supports Solutionz’ technology design projects by producing construction-ready drawings and specifications for enterprise AV, unified communications, data center, and electronic security systems. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, and end-users to translate business and technical requirements into buildable designs for mission‑critical and enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the design and documentation of small to large‑scale low voltage technology projects across enterprise, data center, government, healthcare, and commercial environments
- Perform design calculations, system layouts, and technical evaluations for:
- Structured cabling and telecommunications systems
- Audio‑visual and collaboration systems
- Electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion)
- Produce complete design deliverables including drawings, design narratives, and specifications
- Review contractor shop drawings and submittals; respond to RFIs and support construction administration
- Conduct site walks and field verification as needed
- Research products, standards, and best practices to support design decisions
- Prepare meeting notes, reports, and technical documentation
- Coordinate directly with Architects, Engineers, Owners, and internal Solutionz delivery teams
- Manage workload and priorities under the direction of the Design Manager
- Travel domestically (and occasionally internationally) to support client projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field preferred
- RCDD certification preferred; willingness and ability to obtain RCDD required
- 5+ years of low voltage systems design experience, including:
- Structured cabling / telecommunications
- AV and collaboration systems
- Electronic security systems
- Strong working knowledge of TIA standards and industry best practices
- Experience supporting projects in data centers, government, healthcare, aviation, or advanced technology environments is a plus
- Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD for construction documentation
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable interfacing with clients and presenting technical concepts clearly
- Self‑directed, detail‑oriented, and collaborative
- Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings
- U.S. Citizenship and valid driver’s license required (due to client and site access requirements)
- Work on complex, high‑profile enterprise and mission‑critical technology projects
- Exposure to advanced technologies across AV, UC, data centers, and security
- Clear growth path into Senior Design Engineer or Technical Lead roles
- Collaborative design + delivery model with strong project ownership
