Aero, Thermal, and Clearances Design Team Member
As a member of the Aero, Thermal, and Clearances Design team, you will contribute to system-level design and analysis of turbo machinery hardware and architectures for our heavy-duty gas turbine engines, with a focus on airfoil thermal performance, cooling, and sealing. Your work may include detailed thermal, flow, and CFD analyses to meet defined design constraints. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the full product life cycle, including new design introduction, engine validation testing, and resolution of issues in the customer fleet.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Design and analyze thermal/fluid aspects of heavy-duty gas turbine rotating and stationary hardware using GE Vernova's in-house analysis tools and commercial CFD/FEA software, while developing increasing autonomy in problem-solving under the guidance of a technical leader.
- Ensure designs and methods meet established requirements for GE Vernova engineering standard work (design practices and design templates).
- Support gas turbine design activities from early conceptual design through final detailed design, as well as manufacturing qualification activities.
- Support gas turbine engine testing including test planning, test execution and monitoring, and post-test validation analyses.
- Support the installed gas turbine fleet by addressing manufacturing issues, improving product cost and durability through design improvements, and resolving customer issues through root cause analyses and corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with the cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Document, report, and review designs and analyses with team members, internal customers, and leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. government export control restrictions, and this posting is only for U.S. persons including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees). GE Vernova will require proof of status prior to employment.
- At least 3 years of engineering design experience in gas turbine engines
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on thermal sciences
- Demonstrated understanding of heat transfer design methods, gas turbine systems, and aerodynamics
- Experience with relevant design/analysis tools including CAD (NX), FEA (Ansys), and CFD
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to simplify complex topics into clear and concise learnings and actions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and to understand the needs of internal and external customers
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
