Civil Engineer - Land Development & Utilities
We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our engineering team focused on Grading/storm water, land development, site design, and utilities. The role is responsible for producing civil engineering design and construction documentation, coordinating permitting and utility coordination, and supporting projects from conceptual planning through construction. The ideal candidate has practical experience in land development projects, utility design (water, sewer, storm), and proficiency with industry design tools and municipal permitting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare civil engineering design drawings and calculations for land development projects including grading, drainage, roadway, and utility plans.
- Design water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems; perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and develop stormwater management and erosion control plans.
- Develop engineering reports, drainage studies, stormwater management plans, and technical documentation for permitting and approvals.
- Coordinate with clients, surveyors, architects, geotechnical engineers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure design feasibility and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare cost estimates, construction specifications, and bidding documents; review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; provide construction administration and on-site observation as required to ensure work is built per plans and specifications.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to company standards, engineering best practices, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and CAD technicians; contribute to business development and client presentations as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (or related field);
Masters degree preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within a defined period.
- 3+ years of professional experience in civil engineering with demonstrated experience in land development, site design, and utility systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Micro Station; experience with Hydrology/Hydraulics software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, XP-SWMM) is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of local municipal standards, stormwater regulations, and permitting processes.
- Strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce clear engineering reports and construction documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and inter-disciplinary coordination.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; experience with project management tools is a plus.
Benefits
Compensation: $85,000-$130,000 (DOE)
