Lead Test Engineer – Emissions Technology and Testing

Essential Function:
Setup, validate, troubleshoot, and operate emissions equipment and sampling systems to measure emissions from gas turbines and combustion systems, and measure fuel gas constituents. Work with instruments including chemiluminescence, paramagnetic, infrared, flame ionization, gas chromatograph, mass spectrometer, and Fourier Transform Infrared Analyzer. Use equipment to measure gaseous emissions (NOx, CO, CO2, UHC, O2, H2O, VOCs, formaldehyde, smoke) and fuel gas constituents (H2, CH4, CO, ethane, propane, butane).

Work with test and design engineers to develop and implement new emissions measurement systems, provide technical guidance and mentoring, and lead root‑cause analysis studies.

Responsibilities
  • Setup, validate, and operate emissions measurement equipment and sampling systems.
  • Measure gaseous emissions and fuel gas constituents for gas turbines and combustion systems.
  • Develop and implement new emissions measurement systems with test and design engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the team.
  • Lead and participate in root‑cause analysis studies.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or Sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years direct experience with measurement, emissions technology, and analysis.
  • Minimum 5 years overall engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of analyzers used to measure emissions and fuel constituents and sample conditioning systems.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine combustors and data acquisition measurement systems.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or Sciences.
  • Experience with data systems design and development for testing of gas & steam turbines, generators, or sub‑systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition, analysis and data reduction.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation to measure temperature, pressure, flow, vibration, accelerometers, digital signal processing, and computerized data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with EPA and other government agencies and test methods.
  • Basic programming knowledge (C/C#/LabVIEW/Python/MATLAB).
  • Strong knowledge of emissions analyzers, fuel sampling systems, and pressurized gas handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of ISO and safety compliance.
  • Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
Additional Information

Relocation assistance:
Yes. Pay range: $89,300–$148,700, with geographic differential and discretionary annual bonus. This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Eligible candidates must obtain authorization from the U.S. Government.
