Job Description Summary

The Gas Turbine Component Repair Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing activities associated with repair development and repair qualification of LM2500, LM6000, and LMS
100 components. This position will provide technical leadership for the Aeroderivative Components Repair team focusing on engineering assessment, preparation of specifications, first time repair development, and substantiation of repair procedures and outcomes. The position requires frequent communication with GE Vernova’s internal and external repair facilities and responding to customer inquiries regarding component repairs/repairability. In this role, you will have opportunities to work on various gas turbine aeroderivative models (LM2500, LM6000, LMS
100) and modules, including low- & high-pressure compressors, low- & high-pressure turbines, combustors, rotors, structures, and various airfoils. You will use your expertise to solve existing component repair challenges, eliminate repair backlog, and support business objectives by leading in developing and executing component repair strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Technical responsibility for GE Vernova Aeroderivative gas turbine component repair NPI and Productivity program developments and qualifications
  • Drive standard work across global team through lean practices utilizing lean roadmaps, value stream mapping, system development while supporting process improvement and continuous problem solving
  • Lead and mentor a team of repair engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor and innovation while overseeing the full project lifecycle to ensure adherence to business standards, safety protocols, and a disciplined, SQDC-focused approach
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to conduct technical reviews, substantiate repairability limits, and ensure component operational life
  • Ensure all technical data and documentation generated by the team consistently adhere to engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide the appropriate level of communication with GE Gas Power management on program progress, challenges, and accomplishments
  • Act as a domain expert for the organization and customers, often creating and delivering training for interfacing groups
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve repair processes, inspection methods, and engineering/repair practices
  • Lead repair process qualifications and disposition of component repair Departure Records (DRs) in coordination with the AAJV and engineering partners to support standardization and industrialization
  • Coordinate all cost out repair ideas and maintain the repair development program deck and future repair projects pipeline
  • Support engineering and business partners to ensure new repair processes, procedures, and limits are correctly incorporated into shop, vendor, and engineering manuals
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field of study from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
  • Strong mechanical design and analytical background with familiarity in repair development and manufacturing processes
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology
  • GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Work Environment

This role involves significant interaction with global teams and may require travel up to 10% to internal and external repair vendor sites.

Desired Characteristics
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Gas Turbine Component repair special processes, including welding, brazing, thermal spray, heat treat, machining, blending, coating, and surface treatments
  • Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexity
  • Ability and established track record to drive projects to completion
