Job Description Summary
Engineer Accessories Instrumentation will leverage his or her engineering skills to develop design packages that relate to the upgrade or retrofit of gas or steam turbines and generator accessories. They will mainly focus on the design integration of electrical and instrumentation systems with GE control hardware for gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator accessory systems. They will work in collaboration with other engineers and technical leads to develop innovative designs that will aid in defining the E&I modifications required on different accessory systems such as lube oil, Ventilation, Haz Gas, Inlet & Exhaust, etc.
The individual is expected to execute projects of varying complexity both in ITO and OTR stages under the guidance of senior engineers and TLs within the team. They shall also provide necessary outage support and own ER and NCR cases originating from all post-COD units. This role requires strong engineering and technical skills and the resourcefulness to work with cross-functional teams situated around the world to execute large and complex projects with a sharp focus on safety, world-class quality and on-time delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own & execute task from different work streams such as PLM OTR work, SDRs, ERs, NCRs, etc that relates to services design engineering.
- Responsible for developing innovative engineering solutions for Gas/Steam/Generator accessory systems meeting all customer CTQs and GE Vernova’s design guidelines.
- Develop detailed instrumentation schematic, wiring and conduit arrangement drawings/BOM to support proposed fluids or mechanical system upgrade or modifications anticipated on a project.
- Working knowledge of applicable national & international codes/Standards/directives such as IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX etc.
- Interpret the scope of the project and develop wiring, loop, instrumentation, and schematic diagrams deploying electrical design principles to improve the overall system performance.
- Develop or strongly support standardization and/or cost-out efforts to improve the competitiveness of GE Vernova’s product and service offerings.
- Provide support to address field issues, as required.
- Take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and deliverables.
- Contribute towards annual team priorities and initiatives.
- Effectively interact with other GE Vernova customers and suppliers, as well as with internal GE functions such as sourcing, drafting, systems engineering, and project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience with strong understanding of electrical systems, automation technologies, and control systems.
- Practical knowledge in relevant software tools
- Proven teamwork abilities.
- Ability to learn different Gas, Steam & Generator upgrade offerings.
- Willingness and ability to work on new E&I systems and develop expertise on both GE Vernova and Alstom-built machines.
- Effective time management and multitasking ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Global mindset with a willingness to understand different cultures and work collaboratively.
- Strong technical aptitude, including on applicable engineering tools and systems.
