Job Description Summary Job Description University Student Intern – Hot Gas Path Value Engineering & Project Management Job Description This University Student Intern role will be a key contributor within the Product Management function supporting the Pivot to Value (P2V) Hot Gas Path (HGP) Value Engineering team. The Intern will support strategic initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and capacity across GE Vernova’s Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path product portfolio, including blades, nozzles, shrouds, and near flow path seal (NFPS) components.

Working alongside Product Managers, Value Engineers, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Repair, Quality, and Field Services teams, the Intern will participate in projects that drive value optimization, cost reduction, manufacturability improvements, lifecycle cost reduction, and execution excellence for HGP parts. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting component‑level value engineering while learning how engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, repair, and commercial teams collaborate to deliver customer value.

Value Engineering is a practice focused on identifying and implementing solutions that optimize product value through improved design, manufacturing efficiency, repairability, sourcing strategies, quality enhancement, and cost reduction. The Intern will support these efforts through project coordination, cost analysis, data management, business case support, and engineering‑focused problem solving across the HGP portfolio. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support Value Engineering initiatives for Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path components, including blades, nozzles, shrouds, and related high‑temperature hardware.
  • Assist Senior Engineers and Value Engineering leaders with project execution related to design optimization, manufacturability, sourcing alternatives, repair strategies, lifecycle cost reduction, and capacity improvement.
  • Gather and analyze cost, manufacturing, field execution, supplier, repair, quality, and operational data to support business cases, project prioritization, and value capture.
  • Track schedules, milestones, risks, action items, financials, and value realization metrics across multiple projects using project management tools, dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Quality, Repair, and Field Services teams to identify and implement improvements that reduce cost, cycle time, COPQ, and total lifecycle cost while improving quality, yield, productivity, and delivery performance.
  • Participate in value engineering workshops, cost‑out ideation sessions, continuous improvement events, and gated Value Engineering process activities from idea generation through execution tracking and value realization.
  • Prepare project reviews, stakeholder updates, executive‑level presentations, standard work, process documentation, lessons learned, and best‑practice repositories.
  • Learn and apply Value Engineering methodologies, project management principles, cost optimization practices, and engineering‑focused problem solving.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Sophomore standing or above with at least one academic term remaining following completion of the Co‑Op assignment.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and interest in engineering, manufacturing, project management, or operations.
