Job Description Summary
The Maintenance Controls Engineer – is responsible for electrical safety and improving the knowledge and technical skills of our technicians on plant equipment. Develop and maintain all control solutions that support production equipment. Assisting Maintenance Leadership in supporting business goals, to improve Operational Availability (OA) through continual learning and development of our people, complex problem solving and implementing continuous improvement projects for cell equipment.
In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to develop people, solve problems, develop and execute tactical & strategic objectives, and drive results that impact short-term and long-term business goals.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
- Individual should become the technical controls equipment expert in the plant, this includes the Design and Upgrades of Controls Solutions, Develop and Maintain Program Back up Storage Solution for all equipment, Define and Standardize Control Platforms for (CNC/PC/PLC etc.), Implement Safety Solutions in various control application, Lead Safety Risk Analysis Program,
- Lead Advanced Electrical Training for the Department, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), ARC Flash, and Plant Electrical Safety.
- Develop maintenance training plans to support production equipment, mentor technicians and assist in the individual development plan for both senior and apprentice maintenance team members to improve Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Assisting maintenance technicians to perform maintenance troubleshooting and repairs of complex electrical control systems, for critical equipment issues.
- Design and Implement Safety Solutions for Production Equipment following, NEC, OSHA, IEC, ISO, ANSI, and ASHREA standards.
- Assist Maintenance Reliability Engineer with Machine Health Long Range Plan to include equipment upgrades, new equipment installations, rebuild of existing equipment, existing machine moves, support removal and obsolescence planning, improve preventative maintenance procedures, develop electrical predictive programs for all key cell equipment.
- Maintenance Representative to Participate and Lead Lean Initiatives and or projects
- Work with manufacturing engineering and reliability engineer to Drive Continuous Improvement projects within the cells to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Demonstrate Ownership of all production equipment within the plant.
- Ensure all blueprints, manuals and technical drawing are up to date for maintenance troubleshooting on all Production Equipment.
- Analyze tracking and trending of maintenance data from machine monitoring to improve machine health plan.
- Efficiently utilize Microsoft Office tools as well as correctly and accurately enter work order data into the Maintenance Management System Leading to Lean (L2L) for reporting and trending data reporting
- Operate various material-moving equipment (e.g., forklifts and jib/gantry cranes) if necessary.
- Through Project Improvements Drive key performance metrics and track results for business priorities as defined by your role i.e. safety, quality, productivity, delivery, people, projects and cost related to Equipment Maintenance metrics.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team environment, assist other craft members and operations to ensure equipment is ready to meet production schedules
- Participate in Team activities for Human Resources, Problem Solving, 5S, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvements projects
- Interface with other GE organizations to benchmark best practices and continuous improvement projects
- Perform other assigned duties as required
- Graduate of Bachelors in technical degree such as, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent OR Associates Degree in Engineering Technological with 6 years of related manufacturing experience
