Job Description:The Sr. Specialized Finance Analyst performs a variety of specialized finance functions in a particular finance area(s) with a high level of technical knowledge to give detailed and well-informed opinions of assigned business activities.
Depth & Scope:- Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise in own domain / field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas
- Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area
- Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area
- Understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization
- Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements
- Acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others
- Supports projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk or complexity and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities, processes and functional programs
- Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise
- Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders
- Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate
- Impacts a range of finance programs across own and related teams
- Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels
- Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels
- Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise
- Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels
- Undergraduate degree and/or
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Accounting, financial or relevant professional designation preferred
Skills:
- Hands-on experience in regulatory reporting for banks, particularly for loan related reporting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate concisely and effectively
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel
- Experience with Axiom preferred
- Proven ability to collaborate with business partners
- Proficiency in reading and understanding technical regulatory reporting instructions
- Effective time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills to meet tight timeframe
- Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing and ambiguous initiatives or requirements
- Specializes in particular areas according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines
- Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized finance advice and counsel to business partners to ensure they are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations
- Communicates and meets regularly with partners to develop an in-depth understanding of their business and to provide accounting/ taxation insight, knowledge and expertise, such as improving accounting process flows or clarifying income and expense recognition practices
