Position OverviewThe Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language therapy services to students with speech and communication disorders. The SLP works with students individually and in small groups to improve their communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Assess students’ speech, language, and communication skills.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans for students with speech and language disorders.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to support student success.
- Track student progress and adjust therapy techniques as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of goals.
- Provide professional development and support to staff regarding speech and language issues.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid South Carolina licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Experience working with children in a school setting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WorkEnvironment
This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.
FLSA ClassificationThis position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
