JOB TITLE: Banquet Set-Up

REPORTS TO: Banquet Manager, Banquet Captains

BASIC PURPOSE: Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Correctly and efficiently set up and break down all department functions.
  • Keep function room area and storage areas clean and neat at all times. Ensure tables and chairs are stored in a safe manner
  • Return all equipment not in use to proper storage area in clean condition before the end of each shift.
  • Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
  • Service/freshen all meeting rooms during breaks.
  • Assist guests whenever possible, referring all requests which are beyond scope of responsibility immediately to supervisor.
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning of banquet areas.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Be familiar with the various types of workable setups for each function room.
  • Check temperature and see if all lights are working and adjusted properly.
  • Working knowledge of AV equipment, assist AV person/guest as needed.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    Experience: Prior hotel Banquet Houseperson experienced preferred.

    Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak English.

    Must exhibit an attention to detail.

    Ability to read/interpret BEOs accurately and set function according to diagrams.

    Ability to lift/push/pull/carry heavy items.

    Travel required: Local travel for outside Catering functions.

    Hours Required: Flexible;
    Scheduled days and times may vary based on need.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying:
    Lifting 20-60 lbs. (trays, dish racks, glass racks, dance floor, etc.) Pushing 50-100 lbs. (carts, hot box, portable bar) Carry 20-40 lbs. (trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.)

    Bending/Kneeling:
    Ability to bend to low-level cabinets and banquet storage room. Bend to lift trays.

    Mobility:
    Maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests. Distance 100 ft - 100% of time.

    Continuous Standing: Standing required to service guest/functions; 100% of time scheduled.

    Climbing Stairs: Up to approximately 30 steps 20% of 8-hour shift.

    Protective Clothing: Slip-resistant footwear 100% of scheduled shift.

    Equipment Operation: Coffee machine, ice machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, possible AV equipment.
