Job Description

The Hotel Hartness is actively searching for an efficient, detailed, and self‑motivated Bellman/Valet to join our Front Office team. This is a part‑time opportunity requiring a flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have a clean driving record in order to perform valet duties. Compensation is $14.00 per hour plus tips.

Essential Functions
  • Greet and welcome guests to the establishment.
  • Share doorman responsibilities with the valet team.
  • Act as a hotel valet and park cars for hotel guests.
  • Assist with bringing guest luggage from personal vehicles to the lobby or appropriate guest room during check‑in, and collect luggage on departure.
  • Load all guest belongings in and out of vehicles.
  • Accommodate guests by opening doors and helping with luggage or other heavy items.
  • Place luggage in guest rooms according to Hotel Hartness standards.
  • Conduct in‑room orientation for guests, highlighting room features.
  • Deliver packages to guest rooms.
  • Answer guests’ questions regarding local attractions, hotel amenities, and available services.
  • Complete daily bellman checklists and other assigned tasks.
  • Review guest service requests daily with Guest Service Agents and deliver items to their rooms.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests at all times, offering friendly, prompt service.
  • Maintain continuous communication with Front Office during all shifts to ensure requests are addressed.
  • Report unsafe areas and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist the Banquet department as necessary, delivering event packages, flowers, and event guest needs from the driveway to the event space.
  • Address each guest using the S.E.A.C. method with a smile, eye contact, timely greeting, and respectful closing.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Understand and practice all HCH safety and security procedures, including emergency evacuation, accident reporting, right‑to‑know law, information‑security program, blood borne pathogen procedures, anti‑harassment policy, and violence‑in‑the‑workplace policy.
  • Comply with all hotel and HCH time and attendance policies.
  • Comply with all hotel and HCH uniform, dress code, and appearance standards.
Hotel Specific Essential Functions
  • Ability to remain standing for 8 hours.
  • Ability to frequently move and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to walk the property and grounds frequently and expediently.
  • Ability to move up and down stairs frequently.
  • Ability to bend frequently and repetitively during a shift.
  • Ability to use manual dexterity often.
  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
