Position SummaryThe Systems Administrator is responsible for providing Tier 1 IT support and assisting with the administration, maintenance, and security of MSC's information systems and infrastructure. This role supports daily end-user operations, assists with hardware and software deployments, interfaces with vendors and service providers, and plays a key role in maintaining compliance with applicable federal security requirements, including safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide Tier 1 IT support to MSC staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of client and server hardware and software.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain quotes and procure IT hardware and software solutions.
- Assist in identifying and remediating software and system vulnerabilities.
- Serve as a liaison between MSC staff and third-party software and service providers for system maintenance and issue resolution.
- Support and maintain environments utilizing current Windows Server and Windows Client operating systems; maintain general familiarity with Linux systems.
- Assist with network administration tasks, including LAN/WAN subnets, common networking protocols, and router/firewall configurations.
- Support and maintain common client and server hardware platforms.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of IT and Information Security policies and procedures.
- Support security controls and measures required to meet applicable federal requirements for safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps as required.
- Perform other IT-related duties as assigned in support of MSC operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems, Information Technology, or a related field OR at least one current, applicable industry certification ("e.g., A+, Tech+, Security+, Network+, MCSE, CISSP, Azure, AWS, etc.").
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to successfully complete a background security investigation.
- Demonstrable proficiency with:
- Current Windows Server and Client operating systems
- General Linux environments
- LAN and WAN networking concepts and subnets
- Common networking protocols
- Router and firewall configuration
- Common client and server hardware platforms
- Experience supporting manufacturing or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity or compliance frameworks ("e.g., NIST 800-171A, CMMC 2.0, CUI requirements.").
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Office and manufacturing environment with occasional work on the production floor.
- Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required.
