The Site MES IT Coordinator serves as the primary site-level IT and MES liaison responsible for coordinating Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementations, deployments, and ongoing operational support across manufacturing facilities. This role acts as the key interface between site operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, IT/OT teams, Global MES organizations, vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery teams. The successful candidate will lead MES initiatives from project initiation through deployment and steady-state operations while supporting digital manufacturing, automation, and Industry 4.0 programs that improve operational efficiency, compliance, and plant connectivity.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary site-level IT coordinator and governance contact for MES implementation and support activities.
- Act as the central communication point between site stakeholders, Global MES teams, vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery teams.
- Coordinate all phases of the MES lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, validation support, training, go-live, hypercare, and operational support.
- Track and manage project actions, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and readiness activities.
- Facilitate technical and functional workshops between business users and MES delivery teams.
- Align local manufacturing processes with enterprise MES standards and templates.
- Support business process reengineering initiatives to improve manufacturing execution and operational efficiency.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, process gaps, user needs, and operational constraints.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Coordinate site readiness activities, including infrastructure readiness, user access management, shop-floor devices, barcode scanners, label printers, operator terminals, system interfaces, and network connectivity.
- Support testing activities through coordination of user participation, issue resolution, and testing closure activities.
- Assist with training preparation, user readiness, and adoption initiatives.
- Lead automation and data integration projects across manufacturing facilities.
- Coordinate delivery and integration of MES, SCADA, DCS, historian, and industrial connectivity technologies.
- Support Connected Plant, Smart Factory, Digital Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Coordinate MES-related documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, user guides, training materials, and support documentation.
- Partner with Quality and Validation teams to support Computer System Validation (CSV) and compliance activities.
- Ensure MES solutions align with regulatory requirements, data integrity standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Manage site-level governance activities, including demand management, change requests, incident management, problem management, prioritization, and escalation.
- Coordinate L2 and L3 MES support activities following implementation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, recurring issues, operational risks, and training gaps.
- Manage relationships with operations, quality, validation, IT/OT teams, infrastructure teams, Global MES teams, vendors, and system integrators.
- Support change management initiatives and drive adoption of digital manufacturing solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- 8+ years of experience supporting MES implementations or manufacturing IT projects within regulated manufacturing environments.
- 5+ years of experience coordinating cross-functional teams during system deployments, upgrades, and operational support.
- 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations and shop-floor systems.
- 5+ years of experience working with global teams, vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery organizations.
- Strong understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and manufacturing operations.
