The Business Intelligence (BI) Co-Op will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to support AFL's reporting, analytics, and data visualization initiatives. This role is responsible for understanding business reporting needs, translating requirements into meaningful dashboards and reports, and helping deliver data-driven insights that support decision-making across the organization.
Working with tools such as Power BI, the co-op will gain hands-on experience in report development, data analysis, data modeling, and dashboard creation while supporting operational and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with business users to understand and document reporting and analytics requirements.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
- Support data collection, cleaning, transformation, and validation efforts to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
- Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate data into meaningful visualizations and reporting solutions.
- Assist with data modeling and report design to support business decision-making.
- Help monitor and troubleshoot reporting and data quality issues.
- Document reporting specifications, business requirements, processes, and data sources.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing data analysis and performance insights.
- Learn and apply business intelligence best practices related to reporting, analytics, and data visualization.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- At least Sophomore standing with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Must be willing to commit to three semesters, rotating between AFL and school.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with relational databases, data analysis, reporting tools, Power BI, SQL, or a programming language is preferred. Experience may be academic or professional.
- Interest in business intelligence, data visualization, reporting, and analytics.
