Job SummaryProvides primary health care to a specific patient population within the guidelines of written protocols. Follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices.
Accountabilities- Obtains medical histories or performs physical examinations
- As appropriate to area of expertise, provides health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals; provides well child care, including screening and immunizations; provides prenatal care and family planning services
- Diagnoses, treats, and monitors chronic diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
- Collaborates with physician and other health professionals as needed.
- Writes orders for the interprets laboratory studies, x-rays, special tests, medications, treatments, and other matters pertaining to patients' care.
- Prescribes medications and other treatments.
- Attends meetings as required.
- General Job Expectations:

- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established standards.
- Promotes positive health behaviors and self care skills through education or counseling.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum EducationMaster's Degree
- Nursing;
Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent
2 years APC experience in the Emergency Department
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses- RN - Advanced Practice in South Carolina
- South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner
- Prescriptive Authority South Carolina Nursing License
- South Carolina Controlled Substance License
- Federal DEA License
Previous RN or NP experience - Preferred
Emergency Nurse Practitioner - ENPPreferred
