Front of House Manager

Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. This is a fun and fast-paced environment focused on serving delicious food with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. The Front End Manager is responsible for assisting with the daily operations and customer service of Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery. The major accountability of The Front End Manager is to continuously focus on meeting and exceeding guests’ expectations with exceptional food and service, keeping up employee morale, work ethic and overall cleanliness of the business, and increasing sales through customer experience.

• Manages team of Front end staff (Cashiers, Assistant Managers, Leads, Coffee Bar Baristas, and Hosts)
• Holds all team members accountable to standards related to customer service, register accuracy, speed/efficiency, menu knowledge and cleanliness; develops and coaches staff if/when performance issues of any sort arise
• Responsible for managing department retention through sound hiring, training, performance coaching and the delivery of formal performance reviews
• Contributes to overall profitability by properly managing labor, promoting sales, holding team accountable for register accuracy, managing line length, overseeing product quality standards within the Coffee Bar, and prioritizing customer service
• R esponsible for the effective training of all new hires; conducts various training to ensure consistency, accuracy and understanding of all job functions
• Maintains accurate training manuals and documentation and creates new resources as needed
• Writes effective schedules for Cashiers and Coffee Bar Baristas in adherence to labor budget and service standards. Manages labor through timesheets audits and approving/denying time off requests from staff
• Responsible for increasing sales through managing the ordering and stocking of outdoor displays, as well as all merchandising inside the Coffee Bar
• Recognizes and trains team to anticipate customer needs and ensure department is properly prepared to handle large volume of customer traffic
• Works with Cafe and Grocery management to ensure seamless collaboration and communication among departments; proactively approaches other members of management to solve anticipated issues and/or improve current processes
• Works to continuously train and develop Assistant Managers and Leads in support of their career goals
• Manages outside seating and walking areas to create an inviting, safe community space
• Ensures EBT compliance
• Attends various manager meetings to communicate and discuss priorities and issues. Communicates regularly with other managers regarding needs, successes, and customer input
• Creates systems and processes to best serve customers, promote order accuracy and increase repeat business
• Complies to and ensures compliance of all related food safety, health & sanitation regulations, workplace safety, and weights and measures according to SCDHEC, other applicable laws and company policies and regulations as necessary.
• Generates fun and excitement through upbeat personality and positive attitude to help ensure a good work environment and customer experience
• Maintains a clean work space and adheres to all SCDHEC food safety requirements and has knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Performs calmly and effectively in a fast-paced work environment
• Finds efficient use for downtime for both self and team

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• 3+ years managing within the Grocery and/or Restaurant industries required
• 3+ years experience managing a budget and staff required
• Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel and be willing to learn and use the Entrepreneurial Operating System
• Must be available to work nights and weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
• Must have a high school diploma
• Must agree to background check
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy
• Must communicate by Paylocity, Slack, Asana and email
• Must adhere to all SCDHEC food safety requirements including following rules of cooling and storing food properly when applicable
• Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation and displays the Swamp Core Values
• Takes initiative to help any area of the business if possible
