Merchandiser (Operations Trainee)
POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for all aspects of product merchandising in large format accounts, including stocking shelves and coolers, building and removing displays and ad features, organizing and rotating products on shelves and in the backroom, and moving product from the backroom to the sales floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Fills, merchandises, and rotates products according to published merchandising standards in all beverage locations throughout the account.
- Organizes, rotates, and maintains backroom by stacking and arranging products by package and flavor, arranging the return of empty pallets and shells, damaged and out of date products to the warehouse.
- Repacks damaged product for sale when possible; arranges credits for product that cannot be repacked with pre-sales representative.
- Builds customer relationships at the store level; delivers best-in‑class customer service through communication, building rapport, and showing attentiveness to customer needs.
- Communicate with customers to identify and understand their product or service needs; ensuring your full attention is given to the account at all times.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise.
- Communicates and coordinates with merchandising teammates, delivery drivers, and presales representatives to ensure excellent service for each customer.
- Works the established schedule including weekend days.
- Follow uniform and grooming guidelines listed in the employee handbook at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work reliably and independently with minimal daily supervision.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean and insurable driving record.
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
- Reliable transportation to access multiple store locations within an assigned shift.
- Proof of insurance that meets the company’s minimum requirements.
- Previous experience in a retail business or grocery store preferred but not required.
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The ability to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Must frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds (up to 50 pounds occasionally), climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment, outside weather conditions, and high, precarious places.
- The noise level in the work area is usually low.
- Daily travel to customer locations is required.
