We are seeking a hands‑on, growth-oriented Controller to lead the company’s accounting function and build the scalable processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure needed to support continued expansion. This role will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership and operations, ensuring financial accuracy, strong job cost visibility, effective cash flow management, and timely reporting that supports informed decision‑making.
The ideal candidate combines deep construction accounting expertise with strong ERP leadership, preferably within Acumatica, and a proven ability to leverage financial data to drive project performance, operational efficiency, and profitability. Success in this role requires a proactive, collaborative leader who can balance strategic insight with day‑to‑day execution in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to provide financial oversight, maintain internal controls, and ensure GAAP, tax, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead all accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, job cost accounting, and financial close/reporting activities.
- Oversee construction accounting and WIP reporting, including percentage‑of‑completion accounting, job cost tracking, forecasting, and margin analysis.
- Manage change orders, retainage, over/under billings, contract compliance, and collaborate with project managers to improve cost visibility and project profitability.
- Lead cash flow management, AP/AR processes, collections, and vendor relationships to support working capital, bonding, and financial performance objectives.
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements, management reports, and key operational metrics for leadership decision‑making.
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, payroll tax compliance, and regulatory reporting while ensuring confidentiality and responsiveness to internal and external information requests.
- Support bonding, insurance, licensing, bid qualification, and multi‑state compliance requirements while maintaining corporate registrations.
- Serve as ERP subject matter expert (Acumatica), driving system optimization, reporting enhancements, process automation, and data integrity initiatives.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
- Significant construction industry experience, hands‑on job costing and WIP accounting
- Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and accounting systems
- Proven experience working with Acumatica or similar construction ERP
- Experience working with banks, auditors, bonding agents, and insurance providers
- Background partnering closely with operations and project management teams
