We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support over payment review and recovery activities for active employees in Texas. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical ability with clear communication and can navigate sensitive payroll matters with accuracy and professionalism. The role focuses on examining payroll records, identifying the source and scope of over payments, and coordinating with cross-functional partners to resolve each case from initial review through recovery.

You will play an important part in ensuring accurate documentation, timely follow-up, and a positive employee experience throughout the process.

Responsibilities:

• Examine employee payroll records, time data, and work history to confirm over payment situations and determine the amount owed.
• Work closely with payroll, human resources, benefits, leave, and timekeeping teams to gather information and align on appropriate recovery steps.
• Communicate payment details to employees in a clear and respectful manner while discussing repayment options within established guidelines.
• Maintain thorough case records, including correspondence, calculations, status updates, and supporting documentation for each recovery file.
• Oversee recovery cases from initial research through final resolution, ensuring actions are tracked accurately and completed on time.
• Prepare and process recovery-related payroll adjustments and labor accounting entries as needed.
• Investigate underlying causes of payroll discrepancies and escalate complex issues when additional review is required.
• Use Excel and payroll-related systems to manage large volumes of employee data and support accurate reporting.
