Position Overview

Greenville ISD is seeking a passionate and student-centered Music Teacher to provide engaging music instruction that fosters creativity, appreciation for the arts, and student growth. This position supports the development of musical knowledge and performance skills while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in music designed to help them fulfill their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social potential in accordance with district curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Qualifications

Education - Certification:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate music certification
• Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements

Special Knowledge - Skills:

• Knowledge of music theory, vocal and/or instrumental instruction, and performance techniques
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging music instruction for students
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
• Ability to organize performances and music-related activities
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to serve as a positive role model for students

Experience:

• Teaching experience preferred
• Experience directing music performances or student ensembles preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instruction & Curriculum

• Plan and deliver music instruction aligned with TEKS and district curriculum
• Develop lessons that promote musical understanding, creativity, and performance skills
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to support growth

Classroom Environment

• Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
• Promote student participation, collaboration, and confidence
• Reinforce appropriate classroom behavior and expectations

Student Activities & Performances

• Prepare students for performances, programs, and campus events as assigned
• Coordinate rehearsals and music-related activities
• Support campus and district fine arts initiatives

Collaboration & Communication

• Work collaboratively with campus staff, fine arts personnel, and administration
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Participate in PLCs, professional development, and campus meetings

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
• Follow district safety protocols and procedures
• Support campus and district initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise students during classroom instruction, rehearsals, performances, and related activities

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, and movement during instruction and performances
• Ability to lift and move music equipment or instructional materials as needed

Environmental Factors:

• Work in classroom, performance, and campus environments

Mental Demands:

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and performance schedules
• Maintain emotional control and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
